Registration

Fees for the 5K & 10K Run, 5K Walk and Bike Fun Ride:

$30 until November 1st.
$35 Race Day

On site registration is cash or check.

Volunteers

We will need approximately 75 volunteers during race week to assist us.  Opportunities include:

• Race week
• Stuffing race packets
• Working packet pick-up and on-site registration
• Assisting with set up at Cannon Park on Friday, November 1st
• Race morning
• Assisting with registration and packet pick-up
• Assisting with set-up
• Serving as a race course monitor
• Assisting with various water stations
• Working in the beer garden
• Assisting with clean-up

Pre- and Post-Run Activities

Pre-race activities will take place at Cannon Park. The post-race festival will also be held at Cannon Park and includes food, water, beer and a band.

Course Description

10K (Run & Fun Bike Ride) - The 10K run starts at Cannon Park near the corner of Ashley Ave. & Bennett St. Participants will run west on Bennett St., turn right on Barre St., and left on Calhoun St. toward the Connector. The runners will continue on the Connector toward the Folly Rd. exit. Just past the Harbor View Rd. entrance, they will bear left continuing on the Connector. Before the Folly Rd. exit, the runners will turn left on the grassy median and circle back on the Connector. The runners will exit the Connector on Calhoun St., will continue on Calhoun St., turn right on Barre St., left on Bennett St. and finish at Cannon Park.

5K (Run & Walk) - The 5K run and walk starts at Cannon Park near the corner of Ashley Ave. and Bennett St. Participants will run west on Bennett St., turn right on Barre St., and left on Calhoun St. toward the Connector. The runners will continue on the Connector towards the Folly Rd. exit. Just past the Harbor View Rd. entrance, they will bear right, continuing on the Connector. The finish line is past the Harbor View Rd. entrance, before the Folly Rd. exit. Buses will be stationed near the Folly Rd. exit to transport the 5K finishers to Cannon Park for the post-race party.

Parking and Traffic Info

You can park in the MUSC Ashley Rutlege Parking garage. You can enter the garage at Rutledge or Ashley Ave. This is the patient/ visitor garage and the cost is $1.50/ hour. Please do not park on Bennett or Barre Streets in the blocks of the race route.

Packet Pick-up Info

Packet Pick–Up will be located at Cannon Park

Awards ceremony & post-run party at Cannon Park which includes food, water, beer, and live music.

Chip Timing Info

Charlestowne Road Race Services will time this year’s race. They use Jaguar Chip Timing - the most advanced race timing technology that is available. The RFID chip is in the bib - so there is no need for runners to attach the chip to their shoe. The system uses overhead antennas instead of mats and displays live results along the course and at the finish line. Results will be online within an hour after the race.

Cash Awards

The top 5 male and female finishers for the 10K and 5K Run will receive cash awards.

The top prize will be $250;
2nd place, $150;
3rd place, $100;
4th place, $75;
5th place, $50.

First place male and female Master and Grandmaster in the 10K and 5K will receive $100.

Age Group Awards

The top 3 male and female finishers in each age group category will receive an award.

2013 Race T-Shirts

The 2013 Charleston James Island Connector Run T-Shirt Design was created by Art Institute of Charleston student Raquel Shamah.

My name is Raquel Shamah. I'm 21 years old, born and raised in Myrtle Beach, SC. My interest in fine art pulled me to pursue a BA in Graphic Design at the Art Institute here in Charleston. I hope to work for a design firm that focuses on branding and marketing after I graduate. My interests are photography, fashion, music, and anything that relates to the term art!
